the idea girl says
we were going for a ride along the parkway
when I shout out, “look at that strange bird!”
Harry had to turn the car around and go park at the HE”S not HERE bar so I could get a closer look.
I couldn’t get close enough for a better pic. I didn’t want to scare it away.
the rEd was a harden type of bill?
it has red horn like things along it’s back
I dont know if it’s a disfigured old bird, OR it’s from Australia, like some of the other birds that have been appearing to have migrated to FORT Erie Ontario Canada along the Niagara River Parkway.
This one was across the street from the BAR = HE’s Not HERE.
I took a few snap shots, but my cell phone camera just doesn’t do the bird justice!
I’ve shown the picture to a few people, no one can identify it…
I did manage to get about 10 feet away, and the bird kept eating, with his back to me.
I moved very carefully, quietly, and he looked up and watched me.
I’m glad he let me take his pic. 😉
the closest I could find was a turkey volture with the same facial look
The king vulture (Sarcoramphus papa) is a large bird found in Central and South America. It is a member of the New World vulture family Cathartidae. This vulture lives predominantly in tropical lowland forests stretching from southern Mexico to northern Argentina. It is the only surviving member of the genus Sarcoramphus, although fossil members are known.
